Shamshera movie storyline

Shamshera (Ranbir Kapoor) is the chief of the Hameran tribe in northern North India who sacrificed himself for the independence of his people. 25 years later (early 18th century) we follow the age-old cliché “son fulfills father’s unfulfilled dream” and see how Bali finds its way out by stealing expensive goods (and teaching its tribal children).

For some reason, Bali always refuses to be part of the Hameran tribe (which Ranbir should have done with the film) but somehow always returns to his “people”. He keeps chasing dancer Sona (Vaani Kapoor) and asks her to marry him because one day he will become king. His dream of serving in the British Army doesn’t help him much after he meets Shud Singh (Sanjay Dutt), who happens to be his father’s killer. Be smart enough to know the practice of how legends always appear to save their tribe and what happens next.

Written by Neelesh Misra & Khila Bisht, Sanjay Dutt is not the real villain in this film. Misra, an incredibly talented copywriter, and her college friend Bisht fall into the trap of saying too much, saying too little. There’s clearly no direction where this story should go. When you say this is a father-daughter film, do you at least take the time to create an emotional connection between the audience and them? Or if you’re trying to tell the story of a rebel against the powerful British government, at least develop the motive so that it’s too relatable or too heroic to tell.
